Thoughts : YKA reached out to me (mid dental appointment) after seeing my artwork about menstruation and intersectionality. I decided to go by the same theme in the commissioned art as well, but in a completely different style. This was one of my first independent, single commissions and it was a great experience.

This piece was commissioned by the non-partisan, impact-focused, public polling and storytelling platform Youth Ki Awaaz (YKA) as a part of their menstrual awareness campaign called 'Period Paath'. The idea behind this piece is to shed light on the fact that menstrual product advertisements and endorsements are primarily focussed on affordability and eco-consciousness while ignoring the dignity of the workers that handle menstrual waste.

Sanitation workers (usually from oppressed castes) are failed by our systems and also by society at large. The artwork is aimed to shed light on this systemic failure and oppression faced by them.
